چکیده

The present study concentrates on development of conceptual proof for sisal reinforced polymer matrix composite structural applications subjected to low velocity impact using a finite element (FE) approach. proposed sisal-epoxy various thicknesses 3.2 mm, 4 mm and 4.8 is different velocities 1 m/s, 2 m/s 3 ranging in the regime energy absorbed damage mitigation behaviour composite. consequence thickness laminate epoxy composite’s assessed statistically Taguchi’s experimental design. Outcome discloses that absorption increases with increased thickness. However, statistical shows predominant factor affecting response compared role fiber initiation studied Hashin criteria it found failure over failure.

Size Effect on the Damaged Areas of Glass/Epoxy Structures under Low Velocity Impact

Most impact tests are carried out on specimens with specific stacking sequence and dimensions to meet standard and experimental limitations. The damaged areas and the resulted reduction in the strength values of specimens may not agree very well with those of real application. In this paper an attempt is made to study the variation in the size of damaged areas due to varying the dimension of te...

Finite Element Analysis of Low Velocity Impact on Carbon Fibers/Carbon Nanotubes Reinforced Polymer Composites

An effort is made to gain insight on the effect of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on the impact response of carbon fiber reinforced composites (CFRs) under low velocity impact. Certain amount of CNTs could lead improvements in mechanical properties of composites. In the present investigation, ABAQUS/Explicit finite element code (FEM) is employed to investigate various damages modes of nano composites ...

Statistical Behaviour of Hemp and Sisal Fiber Reinforced Polypropylene Composites

The use of vegetal fibres in thermoplastic matrix is increasing mainly because of their opportunity to recycle the structures. An another advantage is to provide materials for developing countries were these fibers are abundant. Nowadays, a lot of studies are more focused on the fibers to understand their microstructure and to establish their mechanical properties [1,2]. One of the main results...
